The Che test...and Satanism

Asymmetric disclaimer

Better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven.

I do sincerely make an effort to understand people's points of view. I can understand Bush hatred, the desire for a single-payer health care, and even why some people won't honor the founding fathers. But Che-love nearly always disqualifies somebody and his point of view from serious consideration, for to admire Che, one must either...:

1. ...not be aware of his life or ideas (the most common).

2. ...care more about promoting Communism or hating the United States than for any standard of behavior (a pragmatist).

3. ...believe as a Satanist does (I'll explain below).

One is self explanatory and easily remedied. If one is number two, anything he says about stolen elections, water boarding, fair trials, efficient management of resources, freedom of expression, non-interference in the affairs of foreign countries, pursuing peace instead of war, or trends in facial hair is automatically suspect, as Che propagated the above ideas and, more importantly, acted them out. It would only make logical sense to admire him if you feel that the end he created justified his means.

What about Satanism? When I'm not blogging, I teach high school in Los Angeles. One trend in school is to be into Satan-related things and in my conversations with these students (who are mostly nice kids, believe it or not), I gather that their support for Satan stems from the fact that Satan rebelled from God and continued his struggle against God in hell, therefore scoring points for audacity, independence, and courage. Audacity, independence, and courage can certainly be admirable traits, but, Satanists admire these normally good qualities in Satan without placing those actions in context. Many people who worship Che find his alleged dedication, bravery, and boldness inspiring, but fail to appreciate how he applied these normally wonderful traits. After all, Hitler won medals for bravery and he was surely counter-cultural.

You have it wrong, i understand who ché is, was and what he could have been, yes he murdered alot of people, how many people were murdered in any rising against any government?? tell me that, Ché was a great revolutionist, with out him and Fidel, the people of cuba wouldn't be their own country, they would have been owned by the corporations of america. It saddens me that all you people say such downing things about El Ché, yet you believe that your War on Terrorism is right, tell me this, what is the difference between the Dictator Batista's hold on Cuba for the U.S and the "New Democratic Government of Irag?"... not a thing. America was/is in control of what happens, America needs to keep itself to itself and stop mingling into other peoples affairs. You may think im just another lost cause having a rant, but im not, i do know about all the good and the bad that Ché has done... but tell me... tell me, whats worse, the execution of a few people because they challenged to bring down the government you created to liberate the people from American Dictatorship, or the "execution" of 200,000 loyal soldiers? Fidel and Ernesto aswell as the rest of the Cuban Socialists never killed a loyal man. Unlike Dubya, he willingly sends men to Iraq, too many have lost their lives in the name of "freedom". Yes Saddam was bad and had to be removed from power, but yet again America's hopeless leaders have created yet another matyr. El Ché is a Matyr, and now Saddam will be too. In 30 years i wont be surprised if we have monotone images of the face of Saddam on the Shirts of our Youngsters. I am no satanist, i am no Burro, i know of Ché and Fidels doings (to the best of the worlds knowledge). and im not communist, i am a socialist, i believe that what Ché and Fidel did was needed, i believe that under absolute power people corrupt, i believe that Ché was only lead astray by his power, being 2nd only to Fidel it could happen. Even though you allow yourself to see other peoples points of view, you are quick to dismiss followers of El Ché. You are a hypocrite, if you allowed people to express their points of view, you wouldnt dismiss the ideals of a person who supports Ché and what he originally stood for, the Freedom of Latin America from U.S Dictatorship

I'm afraid that Satanism is directly contrary to communism. There's nothing remotely communistic about Satanism, as it is basically simply objectivism with red and black clothing; a doctrine of the virtues of selfishness. It is decidedly Capitalist. Although murder is no virtue either way, Che did not "think" he slaughtered for self-interest. A satanist would have to first find that slaughter would further his self-interest--he would find it to be an effort wasted.

The two are unrelated, of course. I was dealing with the motivations for admiring Che.

Was Pinochet "satanic"?
What about the Contras?
How about the right wing dictators all throughout Central and South America? I'm devil's advocate here (no pun). I can't seem to find any of your breakdowns for right wing dictators as Satanists. Am I missing something?

I'm not saying Che was Satanic. I'm saying that the reason people like him is because he's counter-cultural.
