Iraq Tries to subdue Baghdad
01/06/07
This story reports that Iraq will once again try to subdue Baghdad. God bless them and we should support them as long as they continue to try to construct a democratic or at least decent country. Heck, I'll settle for a calm, friendly country. One line from the article caught my eye:
"We are fully aware that implementing the plan will lead to some harassment for all beloved Baghdad residents, but we are confident they fully understand the brutal terrorist assault we all face," he said
.
If only people in the West were as mature. Of course such an operation will require toughness and that toughness may well be of the cringe-inducing kind, however, the enemy is an infinitely worse bunch and will take advantage of any government weakness. I'm a moderate and the government shouldn't go to suspected strongholds and blow up their wives and kids-that's what the people we fight do- but we should prepare ourselves for some discomfort.
