Mike Gallagher is not a smart man

08/29/07

I'm not telling you avoid Mike Gallagher's radio show. I mean, I wouldn't want you to do anything rash just because little ole' me. And if you see Mike, I'm not saying you should tell him that he's wrong on this isssue or hand him a sticker that says, "this is America, people have property rigts" but...

So was Mike Gallagher's pathetically coy, obvious, and unworthy monologue talking about a bumper sticker which states, quite rudely, "This is America. Please Speak English" after his interview of Florida businessman and crybaby Tom McKenna.

Follow up:

First of all, I couldn't imagine anybody going up to people who're minding their own business, interrupting them, and handing them such an offensive sticker. How do the sticker bearers know that the people they're handing the stickers to aren't veterans, ambulance drivers, or some other positive contributor to society? Are they bothered by hearing another language? What do they do in a foreign country? Is it because they're in the United States? Do they think that they won't be able to find a pharmacist who can speak English?

Conservatives should focus on behavior, not superficialities like language which I guarantee will be gone within a generation (even in heavily immigrant neighborhoods, second generation kids speak English). Plenty of great Americans speak another language.

I don't throw this term around much, but, frankly, if you walk around being bothered by people speaking a different language, you're a hateful person.

Second, Tom McKenna is a person who contradicts conservate principals to gain sympathy from the above super-sensitive people. If the Tom's landlord can make more money with another tenant, the government shouldn't tell him "no" because it hurts somebody's feelings. It's his business people! Unless the landlord is hurting somebody, he should be free to run it as he wishes. That's a conservative position.
