Colombia mirroring Iraq's success.
11/23/07

I've sometimes compared Colombia to Iraq because Iraq seemed to be heading towards a perpetual insurgency, something Colombia has dealt with for close to forty years with its FARC. This article is from Rich Lowry of the National Review. It discusses the political progress in Colombia since the election of pro-American Uribe. Maybe if Colombia had had American help, they could have ended the insurgency sooner. I'm glad Iraq won't have to go through forty years of civil war.
I don't need to bring up that the man who won't be shut up, Hugo Chavez, supports the FARC. South Americans would be wiser to follow Uribe's path. It's kind of weird that they're neighbors, no?
