Top ten reasons the Democrats are the non-sense party

02/01/08

Whatever the faults of the Democratic party, nobody can accuse them of making an excessive amount of sense. Just from last night’s debate:

1. It’s an article of faith, nay “morality” and “rights” (right next to freedom of speech, I think) that the government should pay for health care. All thinking, therefore, has to go out the window: The greedy HMOs, the stoic ones (as opposed to the compassionate workers at the DMV) that watch patients squirm in pain as cold bureaucrats decide whether to pay for an appendectomy, are content to fritter away 93 billion dollars a year, according to Hillary Clinton, because they won’t shift to electronic records.

Let me ask you: Which industry, in the history of earth, has become more efficient the more the government becomes involved? What’s preventing the HMOs from saving that money now? Can’t they save that money without the nation shifting to a socialist system?

2. Race and sex aren’t important except when I’ll be applauded for bringing it up.

3. It’s fair to count one’s time as first lady as experience, but one can’t mention scandals during the same period.

4. We need to fight terrorism except where we’re currently engaged.

5. Our sworn enemies will want to help us not look bad after we leave Iraq.

6. Iraq is an “occupation” despite us being invited by the elected (sorry, “installed” according to Obama) government. That means we can’t stay. However, we can stay in places like Korea, Germany, Turkey, etc, where they need us less.

7. Squeaky wheel always gets the grease. We need to freeze interest rates when people do poorly. When they make good decisions (or discover new, valuable drugs), we need to find a way to punish them.

8. Allegedly, the government funds most drug research and drug companies, therefore, aren’t entitled to as much profit. OK. Make drug companies pay for their own research. That way, they’ll have less profit, right?

Why don’t universities give those discoveries to non-profit organizations?

Or, sell drugs under their own name like they do books or logoed t-shirts?

That’ll break drug companies for sure.

Why aren’t the billions we spend on university gyms and sensitivity trainings called “profit.” What do drug company investors do with their dividends but pay for their kids’ education?

Why don’t we buy drugs invented in countries that don’t have evil drug companies?

When we get rid of our drug companies, will China sell us drugs at a discount?

9. Unless we pay for classes, immigrants can’t learn English.

10. And, finally. Illegal immigrants are a scapegoat and don’t cause problems which means…that we must secure the border and “encourage jobs in their native countries.” “They don’t come here for drivers licenses,” a refutation of an argument that nobody has ever made in the history of the world. We know that since adult education programs have been cut so drastically, that they don’t come here for English classes either.
