Obama hypocritical over Rep. King's comments
03/08/08
Rep. Steve King said:
"The radical Islamists, the al-Qaida ... would be dancing in the streets in greater numbers than they did on Sept. 11 because they would declare victory in this war on terror," King said in an interview with the Daily Reporter in Spencer.
King said his comments were not meant to demean Obama but to warn how an Obama presidency would look to the world.
"His middle name does matter," King said. "It matters because they read a meaning into that."
Obama protested, but he's really being hypocritical. One of the points Obama continually brings up is how he will repair America's standing in the world with both his easy-going demeanor and his equally casual policies which would preclude pre-conditions for negotiations and a refusal to confront terrorists in Iraq.
Many also point out that Obama's ethnicity would send a positive message to the world.
Is it wrong, then, to speculate that some unsavory types might also be happy with both his policies and his ethnicity?
That being said, caring about appeasing or angering terrorists is what Democrats do. We should vote for whomever we like irregardless of terrorist opinions.
As for the election: If the press is this sensitive, people will tire of the extra irritation.
