Those foolish Chinese, Canadians, Brazilians, Venezuelans, and Cubans. Didn't you hear Obama? You can't drill your way out of the oil problem!
What don't they have that we do? A bunch of nutty people who want to protect places they'll never visit from no danger of anything.
Really! I don't mind the Chinese and Venezuelans, but the Canadians?(!) This is an outrage.
Canadians drilling in ANWR.
Everybody except us in Gulf.

I saw something recently in the Spanish-language edition of the Miami Herald that surprised me. It appears that the Senate never ratified the treaty J. Carter signed regarding Cuban waters, the reason that this oil exploration is even possible is because every two years there is an exchange of diplomatic letters between the two countries, which means that the Bush administration is providing a tremendous assistance to the Castro government. The one way I could accept this-and I assume they're doing it to establish a justification for oil drilling off-shore-would be if once-or if-oil is discovered the US does what it often does and says, "Wait a sec, the treaty was never ratified so the national jurisdiction of those waters is under doubt."
I would love that, not just to screw off the Castro dictatorship, but to see Repsol sink in the stock market.
