Is Wesley Clark part of an Obama conspiracy?

07/01/08

I very much avoid conspiratorial thinking, but I can understand if one thinks that something's afoot with the epidemic of McCain-service bashing: The day before Barack Obama delivers his earth-shattering speech on the necessity of a president to like his country? The eighth time; following Rockefeller, Murtha, et al. and not including the typically hysterical lefty blogosphere; one of Obama's supporters has brought up that just because one nobly endures torture to honor his obligation to his comrades doesn't mean that he can reduce the price of gasoline?

What could he be up to? Perhaps, he wants a Sistah Souljah moment wherein he makes himself out to be a moderate, an operation in which he's currently engaged. Maybe he wants to begin chipping away at McCain's manliness advantage, but doesn't want to get his hands dirty? Very unmanly.

For the stupid:

McCain's service doesn't "qualify" him to be president any more than Obama's time as a surrogate complainer in Chicago equips Obama. What it does show is that McCain is a man of deep honor and commitment. Is character off limits now? Isn't Obama going for some of that service mojo by touting the fact that he sacrificed corporate money to run for office?
