Frank Rich: confused dirt clod chucker

07/21/08

Since I don't watch network news, I clicked on this Frank Rich to get the liberal perspective on the economy. You'd expect an article entitled, "It's the Economic Stupidity, Stupid," to have something to say about economics. But, nooo. Frank Rich falls back on ad hominem broadsides on Phil Gramm and that lazy commentator's standby, the flip flop (K-Lo has something to say on that here.), a line of attack that's popular because it requires no more brain power to implement than playing "mix and match."

Rich attacks McCain for saying something true, that Bush made some economic progress during his presidency. Well, the economy grew! Are we supposed to entirely jettison six years of good economic progress (growth) because of the current slowdown, that people, as Gramm suggested, are making sound much worse than it is.

So, why, Frank Rich would Obama's higher taxes, pie-in-the-sky energy idiocy, and higher minimum wage be better for the economy. I don't think Rich has any idea.
