Does Obama think middle class Catholics are stupid?

Obama must think that choosing a guy who calls himself a Catholic, is white, and whose parents weren't rich means that white, middle class Catholics will flock to him like flies to the substance in Obama's speeches.
It would be like the expecting the Sadducees to vote for Paul because was a high-born Jew.
Obama and Biden mentioned "working class" and "Catholic" a few times. This identity fixation goes against Obama's stated national goals and is so obvious that I can't help but think that it will have the opposite effect: People who vote based on Catholicism will certainly not vote for the 100% pro-choice Obama. More diverse-thinking Catholics and middle class whites will only wonder why Obama has to address a problem with them in the first place.
I wonder if Ozzy Ozbourne will hire Donny Osmond as his opening act to draw more conservative Mormons.
My favorite non-Led Zeppelin/AC/DC/Van Halen heavy metal song. Ironman is a little ridiculous. Paranoid has a good melody.
