Francis Fukuyama and the fall of America inc.
10/06/08
Either Francis Fukuyama is a mendacious liar, an ignorant clod, or the same for Ramesh Ponnuru. Fukuyama's thesis is that Reagan capitalism has fallen and that what we need is more regulation. As Ponnuru points out, the mother of all government regulation and interference, Fannie and Freddie, are never mentioned by Fukuyama.
I'll add another point of view: Banks and markets are failing all over the world. It happened in Japan in the nineties and, recently, in Germany. Was that the result of deregulation too?
Through the beauty of elections, we'll soon find out the truth.
