Happy Columbus Day!
10/13/08

Happy Columbus Day, a day that celebrates the founding and eventual triumph of European, Christian morality in the Western hemisphere, a day that many of its beneficiaries regret, preferring instead:
1. Muslim or Mongolian domination. Yeah, that would have been better.
2. The continuance of human sacrifice, cannibalism, and unchecked oligarchy to the South of the present-day United States.
Of course, we all regret the spread of disease, an inevitability, and the continuance of slavery, a practice that Europeans took the lead in ending.
It's the state of affairs that people have to defend their culture from those who revel in the same one, but if that's what must be done, so be it.
Here in California, the state and schools don't celebrate it- quite the opposite, actually- preferring Cesar Chavez' birthday.
