Costa Rica: Happiest place on earth

07/05/09

I have to admit not having met many Costa Ricans in Los Angeles, which means that they're very happy to stay there. A big part of the survey has to do with a country's relationship with its natural environment. Let's look at Costa Rica's:

OK. I can see some potential for happiness there. I think they also have birds and stuff. Some plants, maybe jaguars.

Seriously, these surveys are put out by interest groups to promote their agenda, "Ohh, let's do what this group says, and we'll be happier." I bet if NASCAR put out a happiness survey with "enjoyment of motor sports" as a criteria, Alabama would be the happiest place in the universe.

The U.S. doesn't do as well in these things, by the way, because they often have categories such as "income disparity."
