Will gay advocates drag Obama's presidency?
10/10/09
We've all heard the theory that certain types of religious constituencies are a drag on the Republican party. I wonder if religion-like movements like environmentalism and controversial constituencies that attempt to implement generally unpopular social initiatives via sympathetic courts, like homosexual activists and the ACLU, will hurt Obama.
Most people neither want to persecute homosexuals nor wish what they feel to be a less-than-ideal sexual world-view to storm schools and every form of popular media.
In this sense, it's very similar to many people's attitude towards religion: go do your thing, I don't want to hear about it, pay for it, or have you teach it to our kids.
We'll see. The fact that Obama's probably "let's-all-get-along" speech today is hyped on Fox and not on CNN suggests that it will.
