The only thing I know is that the winner won't be Compaq. I've started putting a few things together. I don't want to give it away, but it has something to do with those fat 1.5V hobby batteries and hamsters.

Ideologically, I prefer capitalism without government direct subsidy. This seems to be a government subsidy with a conservative twist: The subsidizing of zero emissions cars is likely a waste of money; it'll mostly go to stylish rich people.

Politically, when I first heard it, I thought: "Who did they poll, high school students playing X-Box at Best Buy?" Then, I read a little more. It's pretty new (and even bold) and Obama will be the one reacting. McCain can seem concerned about the energy situation and still claim to be the tightwad. It sounds kind of gas tax holiday gimmicky.

Practically, it's not so bad. We keep our money until we see results. Capital will flow.

Humorously, it's got some potential. It reminds me of The Great Race with Tony Curtis.
