I've not seen Battlestar Gallactica, but I'd vote for Sarach Connor Chronicles anyway, since I love the idea of delving into the lives of the Terminator characters before the war.

You should watch both before commenting! With Battlestar being the older story, it's not hard to see that the writers of the Terminator francise were also Battlestar Galactica fans - the whole premise of machines rising up and turning on their human masters is the main theme in both shows.
