Asymmetric: Republican Kingmakers

01/28/08

Many people ask me: Why do you spend so much time blogging (OK, only my wife asks me, but stay with me.)

I always say: To make a difference. To advocate for my nation and world. To effect change!

What influence can one blogger have on the process? Let's see:

From Real Clear Politics

My colleague, M. Lipeles, endorsed Romney on 1/22/08. Almost immediately afterwards, Romney's campaign experienced what I'll heretofore call the "Asymmetric bounce."

On January 18th, I endorsed Senator McCain. "Well, the chart shows him already increasing in popularity," you say. "Just a coincidence," you say. "Bandwagon," you say. You say gibberish! If you notice, the McCain surge had already begun to show signs of exhaustion. The Asymmetric endorsement breathed new life into the tires of McCain's "Strait Talk Express" in a manner of speaking.

Don't believe me? Let's ask Dick Morris:

"Look, when I worked for Bill Clinton as his senior adviser, he would ask me, 'What can I do to increase my popularity?' I'd say that if something called "blogs" existed and Nelson started doing it, all you'd have to do is get Nelson to support you, but, since that's not the case, try welfare reform."

What does this mean for the future of the Republican party? It means that all roads to the White House go through Asymmetric.

I suppose the previous commenter believes that shorter days do not cause car wrecks! Neanderthal! This is the age of science! Cause and effect, cause and effect. Cause: this blog, effect: McCain wins.

You just can't argue with that logic!
