For an administration whose only foreign policy goal is to be liked, they sure do make a lot of laughable gaffes. Remember the DVD gift to Gordon Brown that couldn't play on British DVDs, the bust of Churchill that was given back to the British and then received anew, and the mis-spelled "reset" button presented to Russian officials?

Mexico City, Mexico, Mar 27, 2009 / 04:59 pm (CNA).- During her recent visit to Mexico, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton made an unexpected stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and left a bouquet of white flowers “on behalf of the American people,” after asking who painted the famous image.

The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the tilma, or cloak, of St. Juan Diego in 1531. The image has numerous unexplainable phenomena, such as the appearance on Mary’s eyes of those present in the room when the tilma was opened and the image’s lack of decay.

Mrs. Clinton was received on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. by the rector of the Basilica, Msgr. Diego Monroy.

Msgr. Monroy took Mrs. Clinton to the famous image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which had been previously lowered from its usual altar for the occasion.

After observing it for a while, Mrs. Clinton asked “who painted it?” to which Msgr. Monroy responded “God!”

Clinton then told Msgr. Monroy that she had previously visited the old Basilica in 1979, when the new one was still under construction.

After placing a bouquet of white flowers by the image, Mrs. Clinton went to the quemador –the open air area at the Basilica where the faithful light candles- and lit a green candle.

Leaving the basilica half an hour later, Mrs. Clinton told some of the Mexicans gathered outside to greet her, “you have a marvelous virgin!”

This evening Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is set to receive the highest award given by Planned Parenthood Federation of America -- the Margaret Sanger Award, named for the organization's founder, a noted eugenicist. The award will be presented at a gala event in Houston, Texas.

I thought he was talking about congress as they were writing the stimulus bill. It turns out he was talking about his bowling:

He told Leno that he bowled 129 in the White House bowling alley and said his bowling skills are "like Special Olympics or something."

President Barack Obama promised to shut down the government if Washington D.C.'s teleprompter operators didn't report to work by tomorrow.

"Errrr...ummm...get back to work! David!" the president said during his first press conference without a teleprompter.

Later, his campaign adviser, David Axelrod explained that the president is willing to "push the button" meaning that President Obama will exercise the so-called "nuclear option" shutting down non-essential services like the "military, border patrol, and those parts of the government handling background checks."

Axelrod went on to say that President Obama has canceled all events so that he can, "devote time to this new crisis."

Mary Castleberry, AIG secretary in charge of payroll, leaves the senate chambers. Chris Dodd had already pushed through a bill mandating retroactive punishment for those "aiding and abetting policies which senators knew about and allowed, but are now embarrassed by."

Has a president ever commented on political comedians, talk show hosts, and financial pundits as much as Obama? This must be something new. I wonder what's next, condemning Asymmetric at the next press conference?

"If you want the face of Republicans, go to Asymmetric [unflattering picture of me]. It's an toxic cybercloud that rains vileness and hatred on innocent Americans. I don't think that's what America needs at this time."

(CNN) — Jim Cramer's now-infamous appearance on The Daily Show Thursday night even won the attention of President Obama, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said.

At the White House Daily Briefing Friday, Gibbs said he and Obama had discussed the CNBC host's grilling from comedian Jon Stewart, though he wasn't sure if the president had actually seen it.

But for his part, Gibbs said he "enjoyed it thoroughly."

"I thought [Stewart] asked a lot of tough questions, and I am not surprised that the video of Mr. Cramer's appearance doesn't appear on CNBC's web site today," Gibbs joked.

It's not the first time the White House Press Secretary has mixed it up with a CNBC host. Late last month he called out reporter Rick Santelli over his tirade against the president's mortgage plan.
