A Salsa and Cumbia Christmas- Navidad en Colombia
12/17/08

What a find! I was looking for Cuban Christmas music (slim pickin's) when I stumbled upon this fantastic collection of Christmas music from Colombia. The disc is divided into traditional Spanish Christmas music geared towards children and and the funky, devout, original songs I present to you today.

Navidad Colombiana - Para Cantar Y Bailar La Novena De Aguinaldos
First, the truly Super Banda:
Ven Ven by Super Banda:
Paranda de Navidad by Super Banda:
Follow up:
I wouldn't normally include remakes of English carols, but this version of Drummer boy is terrific:
El Tamborilero by Javier Martinez nad Lucy Hinestro:
What a joyous sound! The trumpets are fabulous. The singer reminds me a little of Willy Chirino.
El Seis Chorreao by Batido House:
I don't agree that poor people have a less festive Christmas than rich people, but who cares about root-causes when the music sounds this good?
Cantares de Navidad:
Diciembre Azul:
It has nothing to do with Elvis' Blue Christmas, by the way.
What a bella song for a bella season:
Bella es la Navidad from Grupo con Sabor:
Finally, Aires de Navidad from Latinos band. Kind of a normal song until that guitar kicks in. Then, Cubanocast worthy. A Jibaro is a Puerto Rican from the country, analogous to a Cuban Guajiro.
Aires de Navidad:
