James Brown, the hardest working man in prophesy. He correctly called Obama's inauguration over thirty years before today. Above is "Funky President." He recorded it after his best years, when he still added some melody to his funk and had a good voice, but before his dive into a grunting funk no-man's-land.

Parliament Funkadelic, James Brown's funk godchild, has "Chocolate City." Parliament represents one of the last trunks connecting black music to its gospel, blues roots, although an argument can be made for its "jazziness" as well. Anachronistic for not including the Latino population which now outnumbers them in many American inner-cities.
