Conspiracy theory Zeitgeist bunk debunked

08/25/07

"When people stop believing in God, they don't believe in nothing -- they believe in anything."
- GK Chesterton

My friends at Magnasquids (the movie is here) brought to my attention a conspiracy movie claiming to show that all religions, including Christianity (but not Islam, oddly), descend from the ancient zodiac. Basically, the Patriarchs used the Egyptian god Horus, himself a personification of the ancient zodiac, as inspiration for their own theology and God origin. The movie, not content with a mere academic discussion of religious origins, however, goes on to discuss how we were all fooled by Bush and Co. during and after the Twin Towers attack of 2001 (the lying "9/11 Truth" movement) and even bring up that old chestnut, the Federal Reserve Bank.

I was immediately skeptical for a couple of reasons. First, just like I wouldn't buy a car from someplace called "Honest Jack's Car Emporium" I immediately distrust any movie that claims "everything you know is a lie, UNTIL NOW." Yes, an internet movie will set us strait. Second, in order for such claims to be true, we'd have to live in a more evil world than anybody could imagine. Our president would have had to murder 3000 people to please... I don't know... his bothers from the Skull and Bones who now run the Reserve Bank who just lent money to Halliburton.

I must admit that I wasn't prepared to discus the religious aspects of the film. The movie begins by listing coincidences between the different religions: that all ancient religions have virgin-birthed gods who later acquire twelve disciples, are killed, and are resurrected (anybody you know?). Their list of gods is impressive from the aforementioned Horus to Dionysus, to Mithra and Vishnu and even a god that they made up themselves called Virishna.

The list of similarities took me aback. I thought that if they were true, it would be a solid case against religion in general and Christianity in particular.

But, it turns out that the movie is one big, fat lie. In one of my most interesting internet experiences, a site called Unexplained Mysteries has such a devastating debunking that I almost felt embarrassed for the movie makers- until I realized that these people are spreading the most disgusting lies and generating unjustified fear- very sad. The thread is very much worth your time.

Some thoughts:

Follow up:

1. According to anti-religious people, religious leaders lie to their followers in order to control them or to take their money (some do, by the way). The question is, then: why do non-religious people, like the either delusional or mendacious producers of Zeitgeist, lie? What do they gain from fooling us? For that matter, why do people like Michael Moore and Noam Chomsky lie? Do they also want to fleece their flock? Power? is it a psychological defect? (Michael Moore lies and Chomsky lies as if you ever doubted).

It's the most sad irony of our time that the people who most often claim that everybody is being lied to are the ones who believe the most provable untruths. In other words, the lie is that the majority is being lied to (of course, people lie-I'm not a gullible idiot. I'm talking about the Oz-like "man behind the curtain," or the Chomsky-like "everything you know is wrong" lies).

2. Why do some people desire to believe that they live in an evil country? It's one thing to point out legitimate problems, but why pile-on with lies?

3. If the United States is as corrupt as people say and we're stolen from and deceived to such a great degree, then it must not be such a bad thing. Even with "them" stealing from us, we have more stuff than any society in history. I mean, I'm not rich and I still have more junk than I could ever possible use. Even with "their" attempts to spy on and dominate "us," I never walk around scared, especially of our government (circus clowns, yes-that's different).

4. Most non-religious people and most liberals aren't dumb, wouldn't be taken in by these ridiculous movies, and don't disparage those with whom they disagree, but some of the more extreme or disturbed are, would, and do. In fact, in some ways, they're more credulous than the "religious nuts" (who do exist and whom we should shun) they criticize. Responsible religious people admit that, ultimately, their belief system requires faith and, thus, don't claim the ability to physically prove every aspect of their religion. The anti-religious Zeitgeist defenders on the bulletin board (Sunofone, check him out-hilarious) accept the most scandalously unreasonable assertions without any proof at all as well as argue in the most illogical, emotional, and offensive manner-(typical of many far left sites that I sometimes make fun of. )

5. If you look at the thread I referenced, Conspiracy Clothes, The Doctor, and Elgin provide a model of logical, honorable argument. Kind of inspiring, actually.

6. The end of the movie presents an apocalyptic end-of-the-world scenario, the kind of thing people make fun of Christians for. Global warming is another end-of world scenario claimed by some, (but not in the Zeitgeist). Conclusion: People like to think about the end of the world.

7. Wasting time on conspiracy theories distracts from real problems and prevents legitimate solutions.

before this movie came out the same theory for the religion part was credited to a person named k.m. carnduff. but since all the hype i cant find anything about this person. i had read about this person having a severe following but now nothing can be found. if the anti-christ came in human form i have a hunch this person fits the bill.

Do you even know where your own religion comes from?

Just about every religion on the planet comes from Astro-Theology, especially Christianity.

The movie isn't BS...you just haven't done your homework.

Turn off your TV...
Take a SUNday off from church...
Do a little research on what you believe to be true.

BTW...Even the so called "conspiracy theorist" hate Michael Moore & Noam Chomsky. They do something that is known as "White Wash".

And if you honestly believe that a steel and concrete building can collapse at free fall speed (ignoring Newton's Law Of Conservation Of Momentum) then your intelligence is lower than that of cattle.

Seriously...
TV Off...
Books Out...
Homework!
Seriously!

OK. So, before this trash, you knew a lot about building collapses, right? You've read the popular mechanic's report explaining how it happened, right? You do your homework.

Hi. I'm a minister of the United Church of Canada. Interesting blog!
The movie about everything religious being descended from the Egyptian god Horus caught my attention. There's a former Anglican priest turned journalist called Tom Harpur who has written a series of increasingly far-fetched attempts to debunk traditional Christianity. His latest is "The Pagan Christ" which argues that Jesus never existed historically, he is simply one of a multitude of manifestations of Horus. He claims to prove this by minute exegesis of ancient esoteric texts; but Harpur has drawn almost entirely on the work of a fellow wing-ding, the nineteenth century theosophist Alvin Boyd Kuhn. The subtitle of the book is "Recovering the Lost Light" but it's simply another dreary attempt by someone who has issues with Christianity to come up with the latest, hidden, now revealed, finally complete version of the truth. You can find out more by visiting his website, www.tomharpur.com.

I ish Zeitgeist had stopped at Part I. It is the most credible of the 3 parts. It is an extremely convincing case for the origin of christianity and more evidence that it is the most powerful and far reaching fraud of the ages. Perpetuated by Contantine a Roman story based on a “standard myth” that was developed politically for social control. Christianity is not based on truth, no matter how you or how many people have been indoctrinated into this scam.

I'm sorry, but Zeitgeist is factually incorrect in its first part. I'm not saying that you can prove Christianity correct, but you first must assume that it can't be true in order make your claim. In other words:

Since Christianity isn't true, Constantine was lying.

the first part is atheist propaganda that's so blindly biased that it boarders absurd. 2 fish, 2 fishermen? Jesus born on the 25th?
what about the Torah - the Old Testament... the various things of science that we didn't know 'till most recently? The movie seemed quite centered on one entity - Jesus.

The rest of the film, the gov conspiracy stuff - from my research, is incredibly factual & was done by another company altogether. (you see the 1995 INWO card game? couple cards show 911 VERY blatantly 6yrs beforehand)

This 'Illuminati New World Order' card game caught my attention enough to goto a hacker convention last year, where i ran across the 'Ordo Sinistra Vivendi' aka. 'Order of the Left Handed Path' - a satanist group that's focused on deception. One member is 'elonka' who is a wikipedia admin, who's given speeches at nsa/cia places for cryptology.. who made what i see as a blackflag website for one for of the cia kids at the convention (micheal lynn/'abaddon').

If you haven't noticed freemasonry junk yet - go checkout the spy museum in washington dc.. they have a VERY prominently placed masonic logo on the tour. Masonry has created the mormons, jehovas witnesses, christian science (cult), scientology, theosophy (think hitlers occult teacher), commercialized satanism, commercialzied witchcraft (wicca; gardner looking at crowleys notes)... not to mention the KKK & whatnot else.

I'd say about 1/2 of the churches in detroit are mason owned/operated... have you noticed the INSANE number of unity/united/'celtic cross'/whatnot churches popping up lately that teach anything you wanna hear? I met a Knights Templar down the street who's passing out ministry certs & teaching ppl to prophecy in ways that dont get them stoned; has a blue-eyed Jesus on the wall, and various masonic/templar symbols.. lied to me multiple times, and has had several run-ins with police for 'laying on hands' inappropriately. I believe he's helped start at least 10 masonic churches.

I have nothing against church, or religions in general - i do have something against people who dont believe in what they teach; you'd be astonished to find out how many satanists there are in the area. Look into symbology to see the world in a whole new light. It's one thing to hear that satan is the 'god of this world' (currently), but it's quite another to SEE it.
drop me a note - i've a ton of info to share. bandaidsrcool@yahoo.com

I disagree with the analysis of 3 Kings because the bible only mentions Magii, (Zoroastrian priests) and does not specify how many.

Also, the mention of God's sun is no proof that the origin of Jesus is the Sun-god of Paganism..

What he should have shown is that there can be found Pagan influences in Christianity but that is only part of the story. Christianity also started as a sect of Judaism and it adopted the Hebrew Scriptures. The first Christians were Jews who found the Messiah, Jesus. However, most of the Jews did not agree.

It also leaves out the influence of Paul who was a Jewish apostle to the Gentiles. As his ministry spread across the Mediteranian many old beliefs and customs were held on to. Pauls writings are filled with sacrifice and blood and salvation. The Jewish expectation of a Messiah had nothing to do with salvation.

To say that Christianity is merely a recycle of of Pagan religion would be over-simplification.

At age 14 I played music with a Christian organization and for the first time realized that most Christian organizations "use the lords name in vein".. not meaning saying goddamn, but putting themselves above me for their "devotion" to the religion. I am a Christian. I firmly believe in the message and a higher power. But.. religion causes control. The Mexican population is out of control because the Pope told them birth control was a sin. That's real power. Power that can shift tides. I've seen Zeitgeist about 6 times. If you are vein enough to deny their points especially on world power, the price of money and the eventual abolishing of the constitution, then you just don't want to listen. People like to argue their point. But what about when the government proves it on their own site? Check it out.

Check out lou dobbs perspective on the spp trade agreement and eventual one world money
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6qSGQP-uk0

There is a larger power on this Earth and that is the people providing the currency. I finance things for a living and have a greater understanding than most, but understand this.. those who understand interest make it and those who don't pay it. Interest is life and if you're paying 20% + interest rates on anything than you're one of the losers and there are a lot more of you than there are of me. You have to pay attention to your own money or someone else will for you. You give that power to them, yes the banking institutions. The Amero will shift that power to the people that control the new money. yes the Rockefellers, the Bushs, the Bin Ladens, Halliburton, the Carlisle Group. And with a North American Union there is no constitution or guidelines to control what they can do. Wake up. You have to. Over the next ten years you'll be the one to realize that it's too late.

Does Popular Mechanics explain the loss of inertia, the presence of Thermate or the numerous explosions heard by multiple witnesses before the first plane had even hit? - I've not seen that site for a few months!!

The mythical Virishna apparently did exist in Hindu belief from 1200 BC.

(That said, there were many mistakes in the first part of the film regarding religions, the 25th December date may be significant in all of these religions/beliefs/myths but in some cases it was conception, in some it was death and in others it was birth.

Neither Horus or Jesus had their birth dates recorded.

Furthermore, Horus's birth was a miracle both but not necessarily one to a virgin. There's no references I've found yet that support either side. Horus also had FOUR disciples called the Heru-Shemsu... and 16 followers, not 12 disciples.

There are still a lot of similarities between religions and some interesting connections with symbolism, particular astrological... but yeah, the producer of the movie messed "Part 1" up and that will not help his credibility (or lack thereof) regarding the other parts.

The film is half true, half rubbish... which in many respects, ironically, is like religion!!

Have fun chewing my head off!! ;)

I find it amazing and hilarious reading these posts. It's like a Star Trek convention, arguing over which fictional character did what or might do what. I love how everone points out that Horus and Jesus's birthdays can't be verified - of course they can't, they are MYTHS! Myths aren't supposed to be verified, get it?

The bible is a fictional mythical book, written by dozens of people over hundereds of years, and retranslated several times. It wasn't even written in the time of the supposed time of Christ, the "anointed one", which makes sense since he never lived at all.

Astrology was the religion of the ancient times, and people simply started personifying (adding people or characters to) the sun, moon, earth and others forces of our world. That's all it is.

Religion is the source of all bigotry. All unrest. It is the largest travesty to have cursed human culture. All because a few people wanted to make the sun into a man, a human man. As soon as you start defining something as strong as a god with a gender or a race, you have lost.... as history has clearly shown.

We have all lost. Every person that believes in a divine god in the universe is writing a permission slip for every single fundamentalist extremist out there.

Guys, at the end of the day, there is no one on Earth (that we live on) that will be able to prove what is true or what is a lie. So, if what you believe in makes you happy, then be it.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, otherwise it would be quite boring.

The facts still remain though, 3% of people actually "think and implement" 15% thing and do nothing, the remainder do not thing at all. The reason being is that they are not taught how to think.

these are the facts.

Guys, please, be at peace with yourselves and have a great Xmas or whatever festivity you may celebrate.

I would like to point out that there is more than enough non-biblical, historical, and physical proof that Jesus existed. The same Jesus as in the Bible. I am not going to explain the proofs because i dont have enough time as of now (sorry).

And these websites arent outlandish, propoganda filled, christian nutjob sites. These are the real and completely logical. I have searched the web (trust me) and i have yet to find a single (logical) sentence debunking these. If you need more, google something like "non-biblical proof Jesus existed"

I also wanna point out that these only prove that Jesus lived, crucified, and had followers. They dont prove that Jesus is the Son of God, God is real, or that Jesus performed miracles.

This movie was good in opening the eyes of unknown truths. Watching it however, most of this was info was stuff that I had found yrs before (in respect to religon). Truth is ALL religions have truth, Christianty included. HOWEVER, Christianty is the ONLY religion that was voted on what would be a part of the following. That is fact, historical fact. I think the movie brings up religion to show that if they can fool you w/this (religion), what else can they do? As far as Jesus not being real.. I didnt take it as they were saying he wasnt real, jus that the "historical diety" we have come to know did not exsist. & if you truely study religion & do it unbiased you will find that Jesus was a man. There are documents that show Jesus' life in the MANY yrs that the bible leaves out. But if this was revealed in the bible, then it would destroy the creation of Jesus Christ the diety, & therefore the undoing of Christianty. Truth is, Jesus was a great & wonderful MAN & Prophet of God... NOT the son!

while i agree the 9/11 stuff is laughable (its all been said before in loose change, and its all been debunked before), but do any research and you will see that the jesus myth WAS derived from so many previous gods/stories before it it becomes funny that people believe it now.

im not a fan of internet documentaries, they are usually poorly researched, and i dont even doubt the creators of this documentary took alot of liberties with even the religious parts. but seriouslly. wake up and do some research. the basic gist of the origins of christ that they show are indeed true. and i dont mean research on the internet. buy some books, talk to scholars, talk to historians, its all there. you just have to WANT to know the truth, otherwise theres really no point. if you think its all BS, and have blind faith, seeing it in black and white wont change your mind. its unfortunate though. it really is sad.

“ZEITGEIST, Part 1” Debunked? NOT!

“...When the subject matter is examined scientifically and in depth, there continues to be no credible evidence for the existence of the gospel character named Jesus Christ, and the preponderance of scientific evidence points to him being as mythical a character as the Greek god Hercules and the many other deities of the Roman Empire of the time.

While people who take such a position are widely subjected to ridicule and derision, based on all the evidence this conclusion is demonstrably the most reasonable and logical. Furthermore, in a truthful world where we should not be compelled to reside in BLIND BELIEF, this perspective should be allowed to exist without its holders being derogated and abused, as well as dunned with impossibly high standards of proof, while claims in the religious arena require little to no proof at all! “

Honestly, I don't get this whole religion thing. Are people this gullible?

Most of my family has strong religious beliefs. Sometimes I have to think to myself... Why?

The truth of the matter is, they have such strong beliefs because their mothers, fathers or another person told them that "God" is real.

So what is "God" really? There hasn't really been any proof that god exists. There is no real proof that "Jesus" was in fact "Gods" son, or the fact he has divine powers. I have only heard stories from people, or the bible. (Which in fact was written by man.) But everything is based on other peoples beliefs and rumors. But there has not been one shred of real evidence to support it.

(Also, this "bible" was written in a time where witches were real, magic was real, even though there was no evidence to support it. People were killed because of another persons beliefs, and no real facts. But people still believe in a divine being born on earth that is in fact the son of god.. Why?)

Is everyone really basing their beliefs on rumors?

I discovered Zeitgeist only a few days ago, and all I can say is that it put many things that I have felt throughout my life into focus. Call me an idiot (and I'm positive you will), but much of what was presented in the film made a lot of sense to me.

Now all of you choose to debate the "facts", rather than grasp the point Zeitgeist, and Jesus, and Mohammad, and Buddah, and other founders of various religions tried to convey to their followers...

Treat each other with love and/or respect.

Why is this such a difficult concept for most people to absorb and utilize? I understood it when I was very young, because I'd rather have a friend than an enemy. I'd rather know someone I liked than someone I didn't. Sure there are plenty of people I know that I don't like, and therefore I have little or nothing to do with them. I don't feel a need to kill them simply because we share different values or beliefs. Whatever god you believe in is irrelevant.

There is a big difference between fact and fiction.

It's not that some people do not understand what Zeitgeist, Jesus, Mohammad, Buddah and the various religions stand for. It's the fact that their are allot of gullible people in this world who do not do their homework on the issues.

Is it okay to tell people lies and fiction, or is it best to tell them the truth?

When it comes down to it, the "truth" is always best to convey to people, weather it is good or bad it is at least honest and not misleading. This allows people who are not as mentally developed or people who do not do their homework on the issues make more accurate choices, then choices based on somone flaunting their own beliefs, lying, misleading, or brainwashing them with no facts to prove themselves or the issues.

(It's not that a religion is more or less wrong, it's the fact that since these religions do not have proof to back up these claims, then they are perceived as a hypothesis and is valued as a non-truth until actually proven. This information should not be told as an actual truth, which is common among the spread of various religions.)

Don't get me wrong.. Lots of the religions have good foundations, but this does not mean you have to flaunt your own beliefs, lie, mislead, or brainwash people into taking these life lessons into account.

I saw the movie and had questions about world order, the illuminati, the date 12/25, the federal government, comspiracy theories and the 911 ordeal. I was perplexed but know there is something more powerful than myself. This power is the power that made the variations of the colors in flowers and so on. My dismay was the federal government, and constantine.

I don't understand why a nation who knows and understands the constitition still pay taxes when it is unlawful and people are still going to jail for not paying them. Why is it that a select few govern the many. How is it that we all pay taxes and no one questions the government on the legality of it? I believe a lot of deals are being consummated behind our backs only to come to light when they are put in action and it's too late to do anything about it. I also want to know, how can one person know it all. I also want to know all of the meanings of the bible codes and how come it is not published or made available to all. Only a select mathemeticians have deciphered the code of the bible and are not at liberty to inform the masses. Is it real?

Also, I believe that we are not alone in this vast universe and to think we are is insane and ignorant.

I believe religion was set up to control the masses. Before the bible what book was written for all to follow? The bible is the only book I know that has lasted for ages and the translation is still being translated to mean so many different things. Right about now, I believe we are all being manipulated.

I would like to start a petition to stop paying taxes and would definately like to see how many people sign it. I would like to start a new world order, which prohibits the rich from getting richer, the poor from remaining poor and stopping the middle class from paying for everything.

I believe in the power of evil and good and right about now, evil is prevailing and anyone able and willing to show the evil for what it is, has always been crucified, whom ever she or he may be.

Fear of retaliation has most keeping their mouths shut. We know what can happen to you if you become a target/enemy of the government. Let's see, we have Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, and more who were murdered by the government for their views, beliefs and the audacity to want to bring the people of this country together. What about the television, the infamous they want everyone to have a certain type of television or you will not be able to see tv like you did before. After this television change over, you think you are watching tv, remember someone could be watching you, through your set. The technology is there. People talk about Jesus and his existance but no one talks about Big Brother anymore, who does exists.

Without evil there is no good. There is no good without evil. There is no light without darkness.

Darkness is prevailing now, but soon there will be light. It could come as comet out the sky to destroy us in 2012 or it can be the light that goes off in your head in realization.

I'll tell you this, it will light up the world and everyone will see then, what is really going on.

Thank you for listening.

First off...define the word "nature" what does being "one with nature" mean? Is something in control? Or...do things just happen? Naturally something must hold and be in control of the knowledge that supports life? ex. babies suckle without instructions...moms don't teach babes how to suckle... they just do it. Another issue arises in the statement that we are not in need of any morals and that "We are not simply "guilty" or have perpetual "sin" as certain religions would like you to believe and that "We are perfect." If everyone is so perfect then why all the fuss about greed, corruption, racism and hatred? The fact is..no one is perfect. I would run not walk far away from anyone claiming that "We are perfect".

i read through the first couple posts by the numb minded christians before i had to run to the bathroom to avoid puking on my keyboard. they werent PICKING on ur precious jesus, they clearly stated that all religions were based on generally the same thing (thus all were a load of crap to keep people where they wanted them "in fear"). jesus just happens to be the leading sham of this time, if judaism was the most popular they would have prob focused on that. if you christians could just get over being wrong ,and see through the BS that youve been fed by the people with their hands down your pants, we could move forward to actual PEACE.

Actually, Zeitgeist modified some things, although Horus's birth is reminiscient of Jesus, I've looked it up and I even bought books on Egyptian mythology because i was skeptical (I'm too lazy to buy astrology books, sorry.)

Horus was born of a non-virgin but the birth certainly was "magical". Osiris was killed by Set and his wife, Isis (of whom I presume is NOT a virgin because I'm 90% sure that Set is Osiris's son because Set and Horus are brothers.) hunted down her beloved corpse in the form of a falcon. SHe fanned Osiris's body (Keep in mind that Osiris created the world and was the head of the Gods despite having parents which doesn't make sense to me.) with her wings.
Osiris's essence floated into the air and she used that to get pregnant with Horus.

Horus then kicked Set's ass and avenged his father, who later came back to life.. I think.

There's a second story that's similar, but I don't know which one is real. The other one is that Set killed Osiris and his body was torn to shreds, Isis put it back together, humped his carcass and got pregnant.

Either way, person getting pregnant that shouldn't be getting pregnant. The second one is less mystical. I need to read my book and stop looking up short stories on the net.

However it is still not identical to Jesus's, semi-similar, yes but not identical.
It's possible to make a correlation, if I could I'd go and ask an egyptologist in person if Horus's story was similar to Jesus's. It'd save me a lot of time and I'm lazy.

Regardless, the stories are similar but not blatantly stolen from one another. Most mythology is original in origins from what I can tell anyway.Maybe they have minor similarities, but with so many gods, you have to have some with somewhat similar stories anyway.

I researched SOME of Zeitgeists conspiracy stuff, some of it is correct and some of it isn't. I'm not finished looking at all of it.

Haven't even TOUCHED on the 9/11 stuff.

Notably, just so you know, I believe that Varishna, which was claimed to be a hindu goddess, was a complete butchering of a Hindu goddess's name, named Vishnu.

So that actually appears to be an honest (And stupid) mistake.

And no, I'm not religious, I'm an atheist, but most of the claims in that movie were so out there and I wasn't comfortable believing them outright. It sounded so wild. So far the things with the Amero, the Real ID act, the American Union act are all true though. I looked up reliable news sources and recognized Lou Dobbs on sight.
Those sources are real. It is possible that they are expanded upon in a more paranoid form, however I do notice that they are right about some things.

So, when Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, if you go for all these fairy tales, that "evil" woman convinced the man to eat the apple, but the apple came from the Tree of Knowledge. And the punishment that was then handed down, the woman gets to bleed and the guy's got to go to work, is the result of a man desiring, because his woman suggested that it would be a good idea, that he get all the knowledge that was supposedly the property and domain of God. So, that right away sets up Christianity as an anti-intellectual religion. You never want to be that smart. If you're a woman, it's going to be running down your leg, and if you're a guy, you're going to be in the salt mines for the rest of your life. So, just be a dumb fuck and you'll all go to heaven. That's the subtext of Christianity.

I find it amazing that people believe that Zeitgeist is one fat lie. Everything's a lie these days. It all comes together and makes sense...but really why is there no documentation of the fixed 9/11 high jackings? The hotel cameras? The plane that crashed into the pentagon is very bizarre as is the field crash, you can't honestly tell me that it burned to ashes in a DAY. You haters of Zeitgeist call out all these people and their profession of many years to tell them their liars...something their lives revolve around every day and are use to...yet they don't know because...according to you they just don't?! Sad. I use to hate conspiracies, but I can honestly say that it all is just played out so well that no other explanation would make any sense...we spend billions on our defense system, and amazingly somehow, with the technology we have we couldn't stop "terrorist hijackers"....grow up ...you're the same idiots who claim that you didn't vote for Bush after you found out how big of a retard he was, and knew that what he does is wrong. Bill of Rights - Gone. Patriot Act....I mean come on. Open your eyes, quit being damn morons, I don't care about the religon aspect, you guys can debate that in the meantime I am still going to keep to my well-mannered, kind, peaceful ways, and if "God" feels the need to put me through eternal damnnation for no apparent reason than I guess my life is completely pointless,...a life that I didn't even get to choose that I wanted to partake in this crooked world, if only Utopia existed.

Carnduff. first of all if no one has ever told you I'll tell you now: belive none of what you hear and only part of what you see. it's up to us as individuals to take the information we get and do our own research. that's what the person who made the movie did in hopes if informing the masses. if he or she got something wrong present your info this is the only way to get the answers we as a people are looking for. we keep diging till we find what we are loking for. I found the movie very informative but I can't take everything that was said as fact so i dig for myself unlike some people on here who would rather moan and grip and give others wrong information as opposed to speaking before thinking or researching.

This movie was right on. I don't know where you get your information from, that the incredible religious similarities are a lie, but this movie is actually correct. I am currently reading a book called Occidental Mythology: The Masks of God, by Joseph Campbell for a college class. Although the aim of this book does not seem to try to debunk Christianity, it should be the aim. There are detailed descriptions of various mythologies that have startling similarities to Christianity. In reading this book, it is obvious that the Christian bible is indeed just a compilation of all of these mythologies, but with different names and little tweaks in certain information here and there. Nothing in the Christian bible happened! The most incredible thing that I have read so far in this book is that Mithra was born of a virgin on December 25th in 1200 B.C.!!!! I am sure as I read on, that I will come across other deities That are talked about in this movie with a similar birth story in detail. Read the book for yourself.

It perplexes me that a lot of people are missing the message of this film: We, humans, have enormous personal power. It has been systematically stripped from us via: religion, government & the banking institutions. We need to reclaim our power, and there are many vehicles to research that contain the information we need, collectively, to do this.

There is magic in the cosmos and on this earth - and thoughts do become things. This concept of thoughts becoming things was knowledge among college educated citizens at the turn of the 20th century. The educator/philospher, Thurman, or it could be thurgood, my memory fails me, taught this philosphy at the turn of the 20th century. This empowering approach to life was debunked in the 50's, when it was becoming public knowledge, via word of mouth, by the chaos theory.
Additionally, Mike Dooley sends a powerful and hopeful message in his, "Thoughts becomes things" message www.tut.com and Linda McTaggart has critcal information on this truth in her books: "The Field" and others. There is the film, "The Secret", there is "The power of intention" and tons of other works to fuel us collectively into reclaiming our birthright: Humans: Divine spirits of light whose nature is goodness. Believe it, live it, practice Love. Remember: When the power of love is embraced over the love of power there will be peace - this is the point of Zeitgeist!

I really dont know if there is a god out there (and i really dont carea about that) but it really seems that it is us that created god and not the other way. think about it: all knowing, immortal, loving, just, isn´t that the ideal that we would all want to be? Theese are all human conceptions of perfection however i dont mean to discuss the existence of god.

The thing is yes, we are humans, we are not perfect, and yes we live in a world in which things like the ones discussed in the movie zeitgeist happen and have happened for many years. I also have no way of knowing if anything in the movie is true for sure but a bulding collapsing in that manner, being that skyscrapers are designed for that kind of scenario (accidental or on purpose)and i know this because I am an Architect (but any one with a little common sense would consider it).

I think that anyone proclaming to have the real truth is a liar, there is no one that knows the real truth (they would have to be god) but it is up to us to question everything that is fed to us via mass media specially TV and INTERNET which by the way is the top BS! source on the planet, i mean anyone can just post anything claming to have a valid source and most of people will believe it without even doing any basic background check of any kind, and even if they do they would go and look it up on the net anyway.

Yes knowledge does not come from anyone that gives it to us, it comes as a reward for a search, from questioning, from taking our own lives into our own hands. I think the possitive side of this movie is that.... to THINK, think people, think!

I watched both Zeitgeist movies. The money information totally interests me.

I do not know the credibility of the religion part, and the 9/11 part shouldn't have been included.

What was most important to me was the information on the monetary system and so far from my reading, it's solid.

I'm in the process of reading Web of Debt. I've read some of Modern Money Mechanics and I'm in my third semester toward my Economics degree.

I highly recommend Web of Debt to learn more about the monetary system.

I've wanted to do something big. Something to change lives, but I never could figure out how. I want to save the world of war, starvation, and all those other "bad" things. I have found the root of the worlds problems to be greed of power, usually in the form of money. So through my knowledge in Economics and monetary reform, I have a plan.

If only a few thousand people in America TRULY understood the magnitude of corruption at the highest levels of power and made a movement, I think the world would be very different.

There is such a movement.

Please inform yourself of what's happening to our civilization. Try and do something about it. I will.

I liked part one. I thought that finally someone has made sense of religion. It was just logical. Simple, Logic in a way that respectfully understood human physiology. I dont care for all your witty references and cleaver quotes to debunk each other. As if to say the answers will be found in the pages academia?! thats to say the answer has already been found!
Do you really believe that? are you so great?

You know, when you are not raised as a Christian (or any religion for that matter) religion is very strange and difficult to believe in from an independent perspective. The stories are are just too obviously created from someone who comes from an ancient world with and ancient perspective of the world.

Mainly, I don't understand why the bible only seems to talk about people, well I lie, I think that back when the bible was written people unquestioningly thought that they were the most important 'thing' on the planet. But now we have evolved a long way from this and now this only sounds suspiciously like Man pontificating his existence... before science was invented....
which was a train-wreck waiting to happen

what about the management of our resources. what about just looking after our planet . What about simple respect of our co-dependence with our environment??? It's a huge shame that these issues are not as intensively covered in the bible as say for example, betrayal, Love. or Sin, or even miracles...
Imagine if the time and thought that religious scholars put into these pages were actually applied to something more currently useful.
I am proposing that an intelligent existents with our environment is something we so sorely need more than anything else right now.
If the point of a church is to educate to us about the spiritual details of our lives. then can it include the relationship we have with all aspects of life? We need spiritual guidance, we need church's. But we need the church to take and active part in this world and evolve!
'I' need a respected Church with its intelligent members to accept openly that life is more complex and amazing than our biblical ancestors first believed, and have the courage to move forward! Please!!

You're B.S.!! I wonder what it took you to believe in a God that's never been seen or proven itself in recent times. I used to believe in that shit myself until i realized that there's more physical evidence against there not being a God that we have to behave for. Why behave, he doesn't even care to show the new people on Earth his face, why? Maybe he just wants to be a prick and keep everyone guessing to lessen the chances of getting into heaven. Or maybe he was used for control of society. I thought of this long before Zeitgeist came out! Not to mention the same kind of politicians that tell us to believe in this crap is part of the same government who HAS got caught corrupting the system. Maybe there's not too much evidence of coarse(esp. when the world's powered by money, which politicians have the majority of.) If you don't believe that we caught our Government being corrupt, look up Richard Nixon, maybe you'll change your mind. Not to mention the SCIENTIFIC evidence that proves they're hiding something with 9/11. Oh i'm sorry, i forgot, you Christians don't believe in science. Well then, maybe Jesus melted the planes for no one to see, or maybe Jesus resurrected the planes into heaven. Jet fuel surely didn't make them disappear. Maybe Satan put the witness' on T.V. to say there was a sub-basement explosion when they were in and around the buildings. You probably think the media would make more waves about it than just a few videos that were taken the same day as the crash (no time to make up a story at that point.) The rest of the videos from that day just have people saying they don't know what happened. The government was quick with their excuse though. By the way, who has enough money to control the main media? Maybe... The Government and Corporations who run the country. The same people who run their country by fucking them over with white lies and long contract. Yeah, sounds real honest. We can't prove everything if the world revolves around money, esp. if they're the ones with the majority of it. Even then we still have some media that looked past their money and are telling people what they know. So if you can't put this together, then you probably have trouble figuring out what 1+1= . And for the record, Zeitgeist hasn't been debunked. In fact you'll find that most of the religious info is true, just go to religioustolerance.org. I'm also going around debunking Anti-conspiracy sites such as conspiracyscience.com . And now i'm debunking you!!! I will let everyone know about your close-minded site. And for the Catholics, the last time i set foot in a Catholic Church, i was there for an event (not mass) in which i saw people playing pool and other games which involve competition and some of the kids that went to the church were actually Gambling!! St. Augustine was the name of this church. I'd say Christianity is very corrupt itself. You cannot be part of one religion without judging another. And Thou shalt not judge!! Right? Yeah well all you religious people bash other religions constantly!! I've seen it a lot. It was the biggest thing to push me out of Christianity in fact. But know there's so much evidence. Don't be scared if Jesus don't exist. That doesn't mean there's no afterlife. I believe in an afterlife, i just admit i don't know and cannot trust anyone not to lie. All that i have for my beliefs are physical evidence. Even Alex Jones (Christian) himself believe our government did this. He just doesn't like Zeitgeist because of the Religious section. Even if he did realized what they were saying and started to believe, he couldn't say so because he'd lose his Christian job. Keep all this in mind the next time you believe Anti-conspiracy bullshit. Nobody would have conspiracies to begin with if we didn't catch the government in ANY lies. But just the fact that we HAVE caught a few and we're supposed to trust them with our lives makes conspiracy possible. Blame the Government for conspiracy, not the people who have caught them lying.

Everyone who thinks Zeitgeist has been debunked due to sites such as conspiracyscience.com (which i debunked) should visit religioustolerance.org/chr_jcpa5.htm . This site existed long before Zeitgeist was made. It shows that Zeitgeist isn't ALL bullshit!! The only difference i found so far is that the number of disiples didn't match up for Horus, and even that could possibly be covered up. The rest seems to check out. Zeitgeist itself wants you to check this info out itself. Don't go to Anti-conspiracy sites to find the answer, because you don't know how many are ran by government workers. Go to a neutral religion site or a multi-religion site so the odds of you finding the truth are far greater. This way nothing is one sided.
02/27/09 @ 22:49
I would Lke to thank the Minister of the United Church who commented on this thread, because it gives a sense of fair discussion on this subject.

Now for the good stuff.

First of all, the research done on the first part of Zeitgeist was researched extensively, and all the information there has been reinforced by at least two refrences. Whether or not these sources are entirely credible, I can't say, but the premise behind the astrotheological ideology is sounds, as well as their survey of other, pre-christian gods.

As for 9/11, to me it seems to clearly be an inside job. World Trade Center building 11, as well as tower 1 and 2 all had the distinct characteristics of a planned implosion, therefore, demolition. Whether or not it was perpetrated by the government is up for speculation, but there is too much proof for this arguement. Considering the amount of personal freedoms removed by the government since then simply by refrencing 9/11, it seems clear to me that there was a separate agenda for this action.

As well, the federal reserve banking system and the Fractional Reserve system has been proven and verified by bankers across the country, and across the world. This is not a theory, it is a fact.

The message of Zeitgeist is not to disprove or debunk. It is to inform those who are interested in the ideas and truths shown by people who want to see change in the world. If you aren't interested in learning about the truth, or learning the ideas behind the Zeitgeist movement, don't watch it.

As they say: "I feel sorry for them. Those who take the Authority as Truth, rather than the Truth as Authority." - Martin Luther King Jr.

I saw the movie a couple of times and whilst some of it is easier on the mind than others , some of it does not sit well at all. That IS the whole point....to make us think about our lives and what we are told.
I am a humanist as the evidence is so clear for evolution , regardless of what the religious establishment say. They are venomous to call non believers liars etc...thats really loving! All wars have a religious and monetary basis to them and thats goes against any hope of peace. Also even the Christmas dates etc are so wrong...at least four years due to the invention of the gregorian calendar which we all follow so if you are religious...you even celebrate at the wrong times of the year! I believe that there were many preachers around at the time of the bible creation , which was way after the actual event and has been changed to so many versions to suit the publisher....ie King James and evangelical version/good news bible in the UK. A new religion , as christianity was had to be sold as soooo amazing that it had to out trump all others....hence miracles and burning bushes and talking snakes. Thats ok as it has obviously worked...but to not challenge that is doing an innjustice to your brain. Noahs flood was merely the eruption on Santorini that caused flooding of the "known" world at the time...I am sure they believed the flood to be complete but we have moved on and the facts are the facts. As for the part I have seen preached in Us churches...Dinosaurs....God put the bones there......I mean wake up people....he gave us a hobby too!!
The 9/11 stuff is hard to stomach but the fact of the matter is that some of the "hijackers" are found to be still alive so something went on there , but in my heart I do belive Bin Laden was responsible and that if Clinton was not so concerned about cigars and dresses he would have pulled that plug when he had the shot offered to him. He also invented the Mortgages for all...even if you cannot afford it now theory...that certainly worked didn't it. And before you start...I am not a republican...I am open to disagree with anyones causes and effect and thats what makes this movie interesting if not factual. Thats what the bible is....just an attempt to co-erce a public movement to live in a certain way to not upset the status quo.
As for the big brother comments at the end....In the US it hasn't hit you yet but I live in the UK and my new Passport has a microchip in it that tells my whole life story and I am not happy about it....we are being forced to carry ID cards as of 2011 (again with chips in them) and we are encouraged to get new phones and gadgets to carry our money electronically....which can ultimately be switched off by a higher power. We have , in London , so many cctv cameras that it is impossible to travel through the capital without being filmed or photographed at least 300 times and we are told it is for our "security"...that didn't work on 7/7 here then did it...we let Imams run riot with their freedom of speech crap too.
There are speed cameras on every main street now and the national speed limit is set to be lowered to 20 miles an hour in towns. Every thing is being monitored and yet the government has lost our data over and over again and its now.....where....no one knows. That I worry about...you in the US I hope will retain some sanity where we have lost it here. The pound has been devalued so we are more likely to join the Euro....thats our identity gone altogether.
Anyway....the fact we are all talking about the movie is what they wanted us to acheive....the power of thought...no point getting your pants in a knot....take from it what you will and challenge other parts....knowledge is power and the the ability to make up your own mind is why we are here....for a short time at least.

Wauw!! Your 'follow-up thoughts' are hilarious... This is basically what you are saying in a lot of meaningless words:

1. If everyone - including me - believes a lie it isn't a lie, is it?

2. Nah..I don't believe in evil people

3. Why is everyone making such a big deal out of this? I am fairly happy, that is enough for me.

4. As a religious believer I do not need any proof. However, those non-believers with their weird ideas should find proof for me to believe it as well.

5. "A" is full of B.S., but you all should read "B". That is all truth!

6. I don't mind if the world ends! I have another life after life..

7. We have smart people in parlement. Let them solve all these difficult problems because I do not understand them and never will or want to.

The truth will set you free, not the dumb lies you are used to believing.

If there is anything I learned from Sesame Street, it's that you can learn from entertainment. That being said, I recommend a TV series called John Adams. If not just gorgious in appearance, I believe it strikes a cord in the heart of what the zeitgeist understands. Thomas Jefferson had it right. He was just out numbered. The American Revolution was the first gasp of freedom the world has seen since, I don't know, you tell me. Short lived, that's for sure.

I would like to drop another name who I believe began the biggest revolt in religious history. Martin Luther. Not the king one. Just a german monk. He's responsible for many of the pilgrims that first came to America. I'm supposed to be one in fact. Lucky for me, living in Chicago, there was Samurai Sunday growing up. As a child I could tell what held more relavence in life. You know...the balance of body and mind, the balance of one with ones surounding, be it the earth or people on it. Believing in ones self over some imaginary friend. I'd take Goliath..bear handed.

See, I ran into a book called "Artist of Life", and it was my zeitgeist. Jeet Kune Do my friends. I'm actually thankful someone broke Bruce Lee's back so as to keep him from bouncing around long enouph to right some beautiful stuff down. Which is really just chinese phylosophy. He's a smoking gun by the way. As well as his son. Immortality is expressed best on Bruce Lee's tomb stone...

"To achieve immortality, one must first live a life worth living."

Only through the rememberance of someone, do they live on. Like the reason behind the movie 300. Those actions that had taken place by a people of a free world weren't in vien. I also referenced it because it speaks of this kind of respect at the end of the movie. "...no need for a statue, a peom, a song...just remember this day." And I don't mean the fifth of November. But I do.

Do not forget 911. The smoking gun on tape.

Oh, and watching zeitgeist just after getting laid-off doesn't help. Any of you money grubbers want to hand any money over, just let me know. Show me how easy it is to spend money.

Wish me luck in a system designed to fail.

well,well,well... i found zeitgeist pretty interesting myself. especially the part on religion. so for all u christians who believe some supreme being made u need to wake the fuck up. unless of course u enjoy knowing that the one u hold so high might be the same kind of person that u sit in a jury box and call guilty. because lets face it inpregnating a virgin who had no desire to have sex is the same as RAPE. sounds to me like some pissed off arkansas hillbilly on his sister. and if u read the first part of ur bible it sounds like a porn being written to me. it was wrote by the hand of man not ur so called god. and it had to be some crazy crack head to write about 6 or 7 headed dragons. anyone can write a book and pass it around for ten yrs,get it back and everything be different. and telling all these people they need to do real research on proving rather jesus existed or not is BS. cause no matter where u look any kind of evidence u find will be something another man wrote because none of us lived in the times u want to know about. its all BS the government wants u to beleive just like a judge saying by the power invested in me by GOD and THE STATE OF" ". SO GO ON BELIEVING U MINDLESS GULLIBLE PEICE OF SHITS THAT LIKE TO FALSE CLAIM AND JUDGE. I WILL STILL SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING IM NOT WASTING MY ENTIRE LIFE TRYING TO JOIN SOME RAPIST IN HIS MICHEAL JACKSON PARADISE CALLED HEAVEN!

Well, Zeitghiest does have some very good theories. better than many of the thousands of conspiracy movies out there. I give it that. And of, course we all know we have been misled by organized religion may times over the centuries. Maybe or maybe not by design. Yes there had been many "truths" taught to us which we were told not to question which turned out to be unture (age of the world, existence of dinosaurs, geocentric vs solar centric, blah blah blah, ALL things which have been proven to be incorrect), but people, most religions were based in a time when those very beliefs were the mainstream. And yes, organized religion EQUALS control. What better way to control people than to make them believe their immortal soul will suffer for eternity if they don't obey. Powerful stuff.

The biggest issue I had with this movie is the same issue I have had with ALL that are pro OR con of these very same issues. The overpadding of informatiom. YES, lies. But every single human does it from teachers, to clergy to politicians to the kid next door, to each and every one of us. It's human nature to want to be the one who is "right". To have people on your side. It starts at a very young age with lines like, "I told him not to do that because you wouldn't like it, but he pushed me down and said that YOU are stupid". Automatically seeming to side up with the listener to gain their support. Like I said, human nature. And that's where this movie and mnay like it fell apart for me. It has so many great points that they could have left as just that, but they had to go overboard and play on key points, adding unverifiable information and flat out lies, thereby detracting from the very point they were making. Do I believe we have been lied to" Yes. Do I believe our government does underhanded things to make money or control us? Yes. Do I believe there are men behind the scenes bending people to their will and exerting their power over all of us? Yes. I mean, duh. That has happened since the dawn of time and will continue. Wake up people. If there is one truth out there, it's human nature. If there is a way to make money or otherwise gain power there will be millions of greedy people clamoring to exploit it. There's no great mystery, Scooby. It's just humans being human. That is the truth. Deal with it.

Well I can see how someone can connect the traditions of Catholicism to ancient pagans and mystic religions. It can't be factually applied to Biblical Apostolic Christianity.

conspiracy???

yes the simple fact is people/ organizations conspire against us for there own gain.

if god was real, he wants you to behave the way he wants you to, live like this, do this, do that or you will burn in hell???? what kind of god is that

Anyone ever see an old American Indian poster going along the lines of "when the last river is polluted, when the last tree is cut down, man will realize money cant be eaten". Thought it very relevant to the zietguist. Am a total beliver.

Anyone who thinks we went into Iraq to 'free' the iraqi people, find terrorists, or WMD's makes for good cattle. Keep towing the company line, and watching the coprate owned CNN, for your "news". Head in the sand makes a good stepping stone for those knowing.

Anyone who wants to argue til they are black and blue about religion is also missing the big picture. It is a form of social control, but only one of them!
Again get the head out of the sand.

I, the American government herby want to keep the American people out of the loop. I want to run amuck right under their noses.

I am going to keep them scared with supposed terror alerts, swine flu's, global warming, and any other distraction that I can think of to keep them blinded. Simultaneously I will promote foriegn wars that 'keep America safe', but in essance promote

I do somely swear however to keep them informed on brittany spears, Paris Hilton, and any other celebrity's personal lives that HAVE A DIRECT EFFECT ON ME!

I am also going to lie, cheat, and steal, from them at any oppertunity. I am going to spend trillions on a military budget, and a fraction of that money on the education system.

I am going to keep the majority of the population dumbed down so they dont ask any questions as I continue with my impearilistic march across the world.

I am a christian. The United States was founded on christianity. I am not a big fan of Catholocism but if God is in the middle then it can't be that bad. There has been a lot of controversy regarding the debunking of christianity via the Zeitgeist. I have read multitudes of books claiming that there were two original bibles wrote several years apart in two different areas of Egypt/Europe, about how Jesus never existed and every other possible way to prove Christianity is fake. I have also read reports regarding the discovery of the body of Jesus Christ, about how evolution is impossible as the world would have had to be more perfect than it is today to produce a transfomation into a human being, and other significant biblical findings. Science says the earth has to be much older than the bible says we are, but the answer to that question is that somebody created a theory as to the half-life of carbon thus creating an age for the earth. We can not possible know the truth, we put our faith in science as we also put our faith in religion. We can't not honestly prove that science is correct because no one living today witnessed the past and no one living in the past kept an accurate record that can be understood by anyone living today. Faith is the basis of human life regardless of what path you believe in. Something Zeitgeist has to say that I like, the way God created us was to be "humane" beings. He created us with out jobs, money, social classes, economic standards. Now I am not unrealistic in thinking the world will ever go back to a utopia of utilitarianism, where we all work with our hands to provide for one another and treat our nieghbors as though they are our families but I think that was the intention of God. That we would love each other and serve one another with out concern for getting reimbursed for our duties. That we were to provide from the earth for ourselves and neighbors and for our neighbors to do the same as fit. I do agree with Zeitgeist on this idea. A resources based economy as opposed to a monetary based economy. Another very interesting theory that has been coming around- the end of the world via Mayan prediction. When my calender ends on December 31st I am going to hang up the new one and start again, just as the Mayan calender does. Another issue with the Mayan end of the world prediction is that words not understood by modern man were translitered to be understood much differently than what they may have originally meant. No one living today knows what is truly wrote in the words of the ancient Mayans. So, since I have explained that everyone living today is living with faith in something, it is much better to live trusting in your faith, knowing that one day this world will end and nobody truly knows when or how that day will happen/come. Thank you for your time.
