Bobby Jindal and exorcism
06/12/08
People like Eric Kleefeld and Kate Klonick at Talking Points Memo are aghast at Bobby Jindal's acknowledgment of and participation in exorcism. The fact of the matter is that all believing Christians (including Barack Obama who worships the "awesome" God) must believe in exorcism. Jesus performed exorcisms; the earliest church fathers believed in exorcism; and it's part of Catholic Church dogma (Did you know that baptisms are exorcisms? Read more at New Advent. ); and I assume many protestant denominations accept it in some form.**
So, what's going on here? The same kind of leftist provincialism that causes shock amongst some that Borneans don't wear pants. Is exorcism any more difficult a concept than transubstantiation or rising from the dead? Prayer? Lightworking? Obama prays. I hope the left keeps bringing thus up to facilitate discussion.
**The belief in exorcism, like idea, can be sophisticated or simple. I'm sure Jindal, a biologist, believes in physically-based mental illness and psychology.

Exorcism is medieval. Like the Taliban is medieval.
