24 observations on 24

03/02/09

I just finished watching today's 24 episode. Great! The best season so far, I think.

1. They don't use "Fox" for the fake cable news any more. They use a fictional station called "CNC" or something.

2. White House Chief of Staff Ethan Kanin used the term "beg the question" inappropriately, as almost everybody does.

3. The only attractive person at this point is agent Renee Walker.

4. Carlos Bernard, who plays Tony Almeida, is a really bad actor. All of those winces.

5. The torture debate within the series gives the conservative side a fair hearing, which, I must admit, is somewhat disorienting.

6. That Senator Blaine Mayer, who wants to prosecute a man who has saved millions of lives over seven seasons, might get to pay for his dumminess is almost too much to ask for.

7. Another person who agrees with Jack Bauer on torture policy? Barack Obama.

8. The global warming plea at the end was lame. Do you think that the Americans who watch 24 (indeed, any thinking American) cares about global warming? Now, when Washington D.C. is under snow? Now, when the Dow is at an 11 year low.

You want the other 16 observations? Not even Jack Bauer can get me to tell.
