Roques Gallery: Eleanor Rigby

06/24/07

Who:

Busybody, pack rat, abuser of make up.

Why:

Eleanor Rigby started the trend of songs presenting verbose vignettes of life as social commentary. Successors include Pinball Wizard, Pleasant Valley Sunday, Bad Girls, Pastime Paradise, Living for the City, Another Day in Paradise, everything by blink 182, every female-written rock song since 1993, everything by Bruce Springsteen except for Dancing in the Dark , and others.

This trend has even spread to other continents as evidenced by Alejandro Sanz.
