11 Reasons to upgrade to Vista

01/29/07

This web site gave these reasons for upgrading to XP:

1. Higher Level of Safety and Security
2. Improved Responsiveness
3. Improved Performance
4. Reliability
5. Enhanced Accessibility
6. The New User Interface, better organization and ease of use
7. The Windows Aero Interface
8. Easier Search and Organization
9. Improvements in the Networking Technology
10. Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker

And My Digital Life gave the top ten new features in XP.

1. New User Experience, including Windows Aero
2. Windows Sidebar
3. The Instant Desktop Search
4. Windows Defender
5. Performance Center
6. Backup and Restore
7. Network Map
8. Windows ReadyBoost
9. Windows ReadyDrive
10. Windows Media Center

Just like there's no compelling reason to avoid Vista, the reasons given above are not super-compelling reasons to upgrade.

So, why am I waiting in line today? Most of you who install a fair amount of programs (only to uninstall most of them a few hours later) know that your operating system gets clogged up with junk over time, causing worse performance. Many of you have also had the misfortune of dealing with spyware and other online hazards. After a while, the problems may become so numerous that your only recourse is to reinstall the operating system. Say goodbye to a Saturday. Between backing up, reinstalling your operating system, and then reinstalling your applications (I hope yousaved all of your serial numbers), you've lost a whole day. With an operating system upgrade, however, you get the same effect of a reinstall without the hassle.
