Nice People I met at Blog World Expo

Sorry, I only have a 512MB SD card so I had to prioritize.

I conducted an experiment at the Blog World Expo this pre-weekend: I acted as obnoxiously as humanly possible and noted the amount of time it took for people to excuse themselves from my presence.

Methodology:

I hung around the booths- insulting people's template colors, asking them to hold my coffee while I blew my nose, and discussing at length my plan to solve the interstate water-sharing dilemna.

Follow up:

Conclusion:

I'm shocked to report that with the exception of Glenn Reynolds, (Instapundit ) who excused himself during my verbal listing of MySpace friends, the entire Pajamas Media contingent tolerated me. Other PMers:

1. I spent most of my PM time with Aaron Hanscom and his lovely wife Maria. Aaron is a former teacher who writes here. Maria is a Spanish immigrant. Both were a pleasure to talk to.

2. Stephen Green was not only the best dressed man at the conference, but a great conversationalist. Nice camera too.

3. At the conference, Matthew Burden from Black Five invented what's sure to be the next big thing, "dead blogging."

4. Sybilla Nash gave me a warm greeting despite being very busy trying to run things.

5. I had an interesting conversation with Cheryl Taragin from The Spewker right before she partook of a free massage.

The Pajamas Media Massuese.

6. Ed Driscoll: Very polite. Smart man.

Had I known I'd be publishing my findings, I would have written down more names. I hope it suffices to say that all of the PMers were very nice.

Some others I met:

-Ed Jenks of Symblogogy (rolls off the tongue, doesn't it?). He has a blog on barcoding technology. I was going to start a barcoding blog, but Ed beat me to it.

-The diminutively cute founder of I am Petite, a blog for petite women. I learned that to qualify as petite, one has to be under 5'4." According to my wife, however, there's a horizontal dimension to petiteness as well i.e., iampetite.com won't be logging too many hits from Rosanne Barr.

-Kithbridge's Rob Neppell whom you may know as the guy who started Truth Laid Bear. Obviously, a smart guy.

-Hugh Hewitt. What can I say? A great guy. He spent time talking to a group of us part-timers.

-Markos Moulitsas Zúniga of the Daily Kos. He was nice enough to take a picture with me. I'll just say that he's an impassioned seminar attender and has a nice Mac laptop.

-Monica Showalter of Investor's Business Daily. While we were attending the seminar, my post on Cuban cockfighting came up. She was ready to complain to Babalublog before I explained that it was just a joke.

-Two wonderful military spouses from SpouseBUZZ.

-Uncle Seth and Noble from Political Vindication. Again, great people.

-Dean Barnett of Soxblog. I told him how he's the only replacement host I listen to. He thanked me.

Hey dude! Thanks for including me in this incredibly prestigious list. I am most humbly honored. It was great meeting you and I hope to stay in touch.

You are very kind to say the conversation was "interesting." I had a similar conversation about health care with someone named Natasha something or other who was a political panelist at the convention and the woman did not write kindly about me in her blog. Worse - the article (called "Moral Degenerates" or something like that "at BlogWorld") didn't have a place for comments. Can you believe that?

Glad to see there is still some civility on the blogosphere. See you 'round.

It's dishonorable and cowardly to say things in public that you wouldn't say to the person directly. In high school, we call it "talking behind somebody's back."
