Online retailer review or My Tigerdirect shopping experience.

The logo is pink because Tigerdirect is contributing to the Susan G. Komen for the cure charity.

I was a Newegg man. I still think they have a better looking and more functional website, but Tigerdirect kind of won me over with their fine service during and after a recent purchase. Through Amazon, TigerDirect had the same computer for a cheaper price (read here).

Follow up:

I ordered on a Tuesday and received it via UPS ground the next Monday. Upon opening the box, I noticed that it was missing the network card antenna, Media Center remote control and infrared receiver. Oh well. Still excited, I plugged it in and...didn't see anything.

Huh?

What a fool! I forgot to plug in the Viewsonic LCD. I did so and...nothing. No biggie: "I'll just turn the computer off and start it over." Biggie! It didn't work. I tried every computer trick in my troubleshooting arsenal (safe mode, reinstall, bios reset, etc.) I finally got some feedback:

"PXE-E61 Media Test Failure check cable."

Interesting. Extended searches on the internet yielded nothing of value other than it had something to do with the hard drive.

I got through pretty quick to Gateway tech support. The bubbly, cute-sounding tech told me to unplug the computer and hold the power button for 30 seconds to let the computer discharge. A new one for me, but I did it. Nada. Nothing else worked either. She ended up agreeing to send me a restore disc for free, assuring me that the hard drive was fine (I don't think it was. My best guess is that interrupting the computer on first boot, when it makes backup copies or something, messes the whole thing up).

Now, I had to make a decision: If I kept the computer and the hard drive was busted, I had to get the hard drive I use for media from my HTPC in the living room, install it in the new computer, and wait for the replacement. I decided to send it back to Tigerdirect.

I called Tigerdirect the next day. To make a long story short: Tigerdirect emailed me a return shipping label which I printed out and presented to the Staples cashier the next day. Tigerdirect sent me a replacement desktop and waived the shipping. The new computer came complete and worked fine. All in all, a good experience. I'll use Tigerdirect again and would recommend it to all Asymmetrers.

WARNING: Tigerdirect double billed my debit card for a purchase costing me $280 in overages. As per their "POLICY" the customer service manager, after admitting complete fault and responsibilty for the whole situation, informed me that they would only refund the initial $35. I ate $245 in fees because of their "POLICY". RUN AWAY from Tigerdirect

Beware of Aislebuyaisle.com

Fraud!Theives!Scam!
I placed an order with this company and ended up having to hound them for a month to have them ship the order. Upon delivery, only 1/2 the order had shipped. I contacted them... only to be greeted with many email form letters. Don't waste your time or money on this company!

I think thats awesome and thats the way it should be with online marketplaces like Tiger Direct and Amazon. If you get the right person on the line they will ussually be able to help solve any problem. Im a fan of Tiger Direct. They obviously know that the customer comes first and its about repeat business..

Thanks to this so called aislebuyaisle.com business. I trusted them to ship orders out to my customers but instead was notified 3 times saying the orders were going to be on backorder till another date! Along with no phone or email responses having no clue what was going on with the orders I had to refund my customers there money. Took way to long to deliver no comunication back with me! Very extremely disappointed! Thanks to them gamefanfanatic.com is going to look bad on them! If anybody that runs aholesale business. Stay away from the frauds! BIG TIME!!"

I have been dealing with Onhop.ca and have only had good results. Item typically arrives next day as they courier with Purolator and their prices are hard to beat.

Worth checking them out http://www.onhop.ca

I got ripped off by TigerDirect on a DLP Television I was interested in buying a Samsung 56" DLP from them, but what I got was a 61" piece of shit Mitsubishi WD-60735 DLP it's a long story so ill give you the short version it started with the fact I was using prepaid visa card's and as you know there system only allows one card to be used i had four so they turned them into tigerBucks so i could make the purchase, and that would take a few days to process, but in the meantime they would put the sammy on hold yeah right so a few days go buy and everything is processed and im thinking SWEET!!! my 56" sammy is on the way, but a few more days go by and I've gotten no receipt for my Television, so I called and they said my T.V. was on BACK ORDER!!! what the F*** I thought there had to be a mistake, because my television is on hold right, so I'm PISSED!!! as F*** and they transfer me over to a manager who tells me the customer service guy should never have told me they would hold it for me even though he asked a manager if he could, now keep in mind they already have my money at this point so the manager tells me would i be willing to take another T.V. I said F*** no where's my sammy he said they would probable not get ANYMORE!!! and then it hit me they never had the Samsung to begin with they pulled the oldest trick in the book BAIT& SWITCH!!!!!!
